Earth 4.565 million years old? – I don’t think so

There are two events mentioned in the scriptures that to my knowledge no scientists have taken into account in their calculations as to the age of the earth.

First : The breaking up of the earth into continents:

Evidence is found in Genesis 10:25In the days of Peleg was the earth divided. What sort of physical upheaval would have taken place for the earth to be divided into continents from one land mass? The seismic nature of such an event would surpass anything of the theories of the ice age or any other age for that matter. Man’s finite mind has perhaps overlooked such an event. Well, maybe not, as scientists however, are coming around to acknowledging such an event, as documented below.

Researchers at the Curtin University in Australia recently published a study in Geology which found that rocks in Northern Queensland bear striking similarities to those found in North America suggesting that part of northern Australia was actually part of North America. They are talking only 1.7 billion years ago that this happened.

A visualization created by NASA shows the alignment of the Earth’s plates, which is responsible for the map of the world that we are familiar with today.

The seven distinct continents are thought to have started off as one giant land mass.

Amazing! – the King James version of the bible published over 400 years ago, already told of this same information – that the earth was divided in the days of Peleg.

Second: The other event that occurred in the earth’s surface was the great earthquake, occurring at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; (Matthew 27:50-51)

Yea, at the time that he shall yield up the ghost there shall be thunderings and lightnings for the space of many hours, and the earth shall shake and tremble; and the rocks which are upon the face of this earth, which are both above the earth and beneath, which ye know at this time are solid, or the more part of it is one solid mass, shall be broken up; Yea, they shall be rent in twain, and shall ever after be found in seams and in cracks, and in broken fragments upon the face of the whole earth, yea, both above the earth and beneath. (Helaman 14:21-22)

These seismic events of great magnitude lasting 3 hours according to the Nephite record caused great destruction – the whole face of the land was changed, because of the tempest and the whirlwinds, and the thunderings and the lightnings, and the exceedingly great quaking of the whole earth; And the highways were broken up, and the level roads were spoiled, and many smooth places became rough. And many great and notable cities were sunk, and many were burned, and many were shaken till the buildings thereof had fallen to the earth, and the inhabitants thereof were slain, and the places were left desolate. (3 Nephi 8:12-14)

Earthquakes we have experienced in our day last between five seconds to five minutes with the average being 15 seconds, sometimes with after shocks. This is nothing like those experienced for three hours, when the Savior of the world was crucified, both in Jerusalem and on the American continent, and I dare say elsewhere in the world. I think, if you look, you can find evidences for such an event all over the world. Definitely there are seams & cracks and broken fragments of rocks all over the earth’s surface as a testimony that these things did take place. I personally have seen them in South Australia, in the Adelaide Hills, at Hallett Cove, and in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

I admit that we do not know how long it took for the earth to be created – as the scriptures mention days, these more likely being time periods in God’s time not man’s time.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (2 Peter 2:8)

Nor do we know how long it was before Adam, then Eve were placed on the earth as living souls. My theory, I believe, is just as good as any scientist, and I say we are talking thousands of years not millions. Not that it matters all that much, but that truth may be known. You can rely on the scriptures and the promises made there-in to each one of us, rather than any earthly theory of man.

So please all scientists, take these documented facts into your calculations, and you will see that the earth is not quite as old as you claim.
